Job Description

Support the General Workers in executing the bakery strategy and coordinating bakery operations. Assist in terms of meeting the business P&L targets, understanding how the Bakery impacts the income statement and balance sheet, and building an exceptional operations team. Work with the General Manager to manage human capital to develop capability, retain talent and a develop a high-performance culture.

Location: Johannesburg & Pietermaritzburg

What you will do

  • Ensure execution of the Albany Sales and marketing strategy to win at the point of purchase, and to ensure retention our Customers Understand sales routes and management thereof
  • Develop new markets through opening new outlets and drive business development with existing customers.
  • Build excellent relations with the trade (customers) and truck crews (Drivers & Van Assistants) Conduct daily driver debriefs to review route performance, utilizing the debrief form Consistent monitoring of the distribution network (Route viability and Performance).
  • Schedule regular route rides (minimum twice annually on each route) utilizing the Sales way Application Tools
  • Complete daily Call Cycles
  • Update Profile Cards on a daily basis
  • Planning for, and execution of promotion activations, including into distributor networks and clients Manage returns and donations
  • Conduct pricing surveys utilizing the Salesway Application Tools • Liaise with Telesales • Fill in as a relief representative where required
  • Meet daily, weekly and monthly sales targets In-trade Execution
  • Point of sales material erected where possible
  • Credit returns minimized as per Bakery policy
  • Understand and execute customer classification (look of success)
  • Understand and conduct bread stand placements
  • Baskets Management- Baskets’ Movement, Basket Counts and control. Effective shelf exposure
  • Ensure displayed stock does not include damaged or out of date stock.
  • Ensure display areas kept clean at all times.
  • Negotiated pricing platforms
  • Negotiate pricing strategies and deals within mandate Customer relations
  • Open new accounts (Cash/Credit account customers in General Trade) Ensure outstanding monies are collected daily
  • Ensure special deliveries made and customer queries handled
  • Ensure that the customer data is reviewed and updated regularly Quality
  • Understand the requirements of product quality
  • Learn how to deal with customer complaints
  • Report consumer complaints to Sales Manager/Field Sales Manager
  • Manage market incidents
  • Understand and manage the withdrawal/recall process
  • Understand the logistics process Trade Marketing
  • Build customer and route plans
  • Plan and implement competitive sales plans to bring about a substantial volume growth Identify top 10 customers per route and build customer plans for them
  • Identify bottom 10 customers per route and build a recovery plans for them
  • Identify top competitor customers per route and build a competitor attack strategy
  • Understand applicable Channel Strategies
  • Understand the Customer Management process
  • Understand Pricing Strategies
  • Manage discounts and conduct discount reviews What You Will Be Measured On:

Responsibilities

  • Completion of ad-hoc jobs and job cards on DMS
  • Maintenance of air-conditioners on monthly checks
  • Problem solving
  • Health and Safety monitoring and checks
  • Assisting and fixing breakdowns when required
  • Assist with implementing the business strategy at Bakery level
  • Ensure implementation of the overall operating plan for the bakery
  • Assist with the formulation and implementation of the business plan including: production plans, quality improvement plans, distribution plans and sales plans

  • Build superior knowledge and understanding of the target market including shoppers, consumers, customers and competitors
  • Implement go to market priority setting for General Trade and Modern Trade (incl. sales budgets) to meet category objectives, partnering closely with the Customer function to drive its execution across key channels, packs, regions and service offerings
  • Build effective and efficient sales and third party distribution processes, interfaces and systems that provide a competitive advantage
  • Identify sales / growth opportunities through experience and understanding of drivers of growth
  • Build and own relationships with key Bakery distributors and depots
  • Ensure internal controls are adhered to (baskets / balances / returns)
